El "Buenos Aires Herald" en su edición del lunes 27 de julio, publicó esta nota sobre la reciente visita de la Embajadora Shan Morgan a nuestro Club. El texto se reproduce a continuación para mayor claridad:
British Ambassador Shan Morgan came to the Tigre Boat Club (TBC), on July 11 to be made honorary president, a distinction traditionally given to British Ambassadors.
The TBC, the oldest rowing club in Tigre, was founded in 1888 by a group of Britons from the Buenos Aires Rowing Club, which was then on the Riachuelo River in the Boca district.
Club President Peter Edward recalled other British ambassadors who received this honour: William Marsden, (from a rowing familiy), Sir Robin Christopher and Morgan's predecessor John Hughes, who helped the TBC to take part in the Henley Regatta last year, in several ways.
Ambassador Shan Morgan, who came with her secretary Tracy Peers and her husband David, also an oarsman, has a degree in French Literature and Language fron Kent University and has worked in the Foreign Office for the European Union in Brussels and Paris. She has also done a lot of work for different non-governmental organizations (NGOs), on environment and climate change. She deployed three languages at the Tigre event: English, Spanish and Welch.
At the beginning, three new boats were christened: two light regatta singles made of carbon fibre, John Jarvis (donated by Beatriz Corti de Jarvis) and Agus II (donated by Gabriel Bottazzini). The third wooden pleasure boat was donated by Ronnie Scott and named after him.
Afterwards, Shan Morgan was given a tour of the club and expressed her delight.
